Gemma and Philip’s wedding on Garda Island has all the makings of a stunning destination wedding in Italy: gorgeous views of the lake, the magical atmosphere of an historic villa and garden, and a stunning Italian meal under the stars in a charming country house overlooking the lake.
FIRST SIGHT LOVE WITH GARDA ISLAND
Gemma and Philip are from UK. They are a fun and very in love couple! They came to Italy a couple of years ago to find the perfect venue and they immediately fell in love with Garda Island; shortly after their visit they knew Gemma was pregnant and so they decided to wait their future child to be old enough to walk the aisle with the bride.
Gemma, the bride, is a florist and was very determined from the beginning choosing the succulents theme for her wedding on Garda Island. So we took advantage of the time we had to define the details. The island has a historic garden counted among the most beautiful gardens in Italy and in particular it has a wonderful garden of agaves and numerous succulent plants clinging to the ancient rock walls of its park. It was so nice to work on this theme, unusual but perfect for this wedding venue.
THE WEDDING DAY
After a dip in the pool and a tasty brunch, the couple’s and their guests’ preparations began among the fascinating walls of a Relais perched on the hill; from there the blue of the lake seemed more vibrant than always in that sunny day of June.
From such an amazing frame all the guests moved to the pier on lake to take their boats; Garda Island is a private island on Lake Garda that the couple and their guests can reach only by boat, this gives privacy and romance to the wedding. Philip and his guests reached the island by 2 big boats together and the bride with the bridal party by a small motorboat later, so all the guests could see her arrival from the gorgeous balcony of the villa.
Going up the path leading to the loggia, the bride was preceded by her enchanting bridesmaids in lace dresses in the palette colors; the co-star of the entry was sweet little Violet, the cute two years old daughter of the couple, with her light blue balloon.
After the Civil ceremony, during the aperitif that took place in the enchanting Italian garden, the newlyweds kept some time for couple portraits in the gorgeous garden before to reach their guests and move back together to the mainland.
For the wedding reception Gemma and Philip chose the charming Relais on the hills overlooking the lake that they decided to take in exclusivity to spend a couple of days with all their guests. The first goal in fact was to spend some fun and relaxed time with their many friends and families and enjoy all together their Italian days.
WEDDING THEME AND COLOR PALETTE
As said, the wedding was decorated with succulents so the perfect color palette was sage green, lavender and light blue, precisely the nuances of succulents.
Old doilies and olive branches completed the table decor for the candlelit dinner around the pool overlooking the lake.
Also the get-a-way car, a vintage FIAT Topolino, perfectly matched both the color scheme and the Italian style of the wedding.
As a vintage touch we tied to the car some personalized tin cans.
Small glass spheres with succulents hung from the trees at the welcome drink in the Relais’ garden while the guests could enjoy the olive trees and the tranquility of the countryside all around.
After a delicious meal accompanied to great local wines the party continued with a Dj set until late at night; at their sleepy awakening the following morning all the guests had a tasty and relaxed breakfast waiting for them so why not to fully live the party night?!
